Can I Coat a Alcohol Ink Painting?

Can I Coat a Alcohol Ink Painting?

15th Sep 2021

We don't see why this wouldn't work however there are a couple of things we'd like to point out:

1. Some people have reported the colours in the Pink and Purple range disappearing once resin was poured onto them, this however was subject the the age of the piece.

2. You will need to ensure that the piece is 100% dry before applying the resin and also be aware that the resin has the potential to soften the alcohol inks so any pouring would need to be done carefully.

3. Some people have also reported that the exothermic reaction created can affect the alcohol inks, so we would suggest starting with a thin pour, and then applying a thicker pour over this to prevent too much heat build up.

We always recommend with things like this that you do a test piece first, the great thing is we have a 8fl.oz kit of the Alumilite Amazing Clear Cast Epoxy Resin which is great for doing tests!
